Smoked over fine wood, this beautiful whole leaf tea has a dense and rich flavour. The smoky aroma can be identified from across the room and will draw you in like a warm crackling fire in winter.

The smokiest tea we stock. Lapsang was discovered by accident when a tea grower dried his tea leaves over a fire to quicken the process. When the tea merchant arrived he was amazed by the unintended smoky flavour. Smoky teas tend to be drunk by western consumers and are not commonly drunk in China. “Tarry” refers to a higher quality Lapsang, which is what we stock at Adore Tea, tarry means smoked in French. “Souchong” is a technical term used to describe the quality of the whole tea leaf (i.e. not broken down).
